Dental Implant-Supported Restorations

The best way to recover from tooth loss is to replace the teeth you’ve lost, and the more lifelike your prosthesis, the better. Modern bridges and dentures are typically crafted from highly lifelike materials, such as dental porcelain, to create impressively realistic results. However, only dental implants are able to replace the roots of your lost teeth and the functions that keep your jawbone and oral health in good shape. Dental implants consist of one or more implant posts made from biocompatible titanium, a connective abutment, and a custom-designed restoration (crown, bridge, or denture). After the implant posts are placed in your jawbone, healing can take 4-6 months, as your jawbone fuses to the implant posts. Then, Dr. Jenkins can attach the abutments and restoration to the posts to complete your procedure.

Immediate and Long-Term Benefits

Conventional bridges and dentures are highly successful and are designed for optimal comfort and stability. Yet these prostheses rely on supportive crowns, hidden clasps, and/or gum-colored bases to stay in place, and they can eventually lose their originally firm fit. By contrast, implant posts offer a support system similar to your natural teeth and their roots, meaning they can secure your restoration better and without having to disturb nearby teeth and oral tissues.
